The biggest mistake law students and freshers make?

A client walks in, starts crying about a problem, and you immediately start acting like a Judge.
Client: "My husband hit me..."
You: "Do you have medical proof? Section 498A requires evidence!" ❌
Stop.
When you do this, the client shuts down. You miss the real story.
Top Lawyers don't just "listen." They use a psychological strategy called the "Funnel Technique" 🌪️.

Here is how you should actually interview a client:
1️⃣ Phase 1: The Open Mouth (Wide Questions)
• Ask: "Tell me everything that happened in your own words."
• Rule: Put your pen down. Do NOT interrupt. Let them vent. If you interrupt, they stop trusting you.

2️⃣ Phase 2: The Probing (The T-Funnel)
• Ask: "You mentioned a contract. Who drafted it? When was it signed?"
• Rule: Now you pick specific topics and drill down.

3️⃣ Phase 3: The Verification (Closed Questions)
• Ask: "Is the property registered? Yes or No?"
• Rule: This is where you trap a lying client and lock the evidence.

The hardest part of writing a Research Paper isn't the research.

It is the Footnoting. ✍️

You write a brilliant 3000-word paper, submit it, and your Professor circles everything in Red Ink saying: "Incorrect Citation Format." 😭

The Bluebook (21st Edition) is the gold standard for legal citation worldwide. But the actual book is 500 pages long! Who has time to read that?

Most students lose marks because they confuse:
• Id. (Same source) vs. Supra (Earlier source).
• Where to put the year? (In brackets or out?).
• How to cite a Website vs. a Blog?

I have created a "Bluebook Citation Cheat Sheet" 📄.
It creates a simple Formula for every type of source (Books, Cases, Journals). You just need to fill in the blanks.
✅ No more confusion.
✅ No more rejected papers.
✅ Professional Moot Memorials.

📝 An Affidavit is not just a paper. It is "Evidence on Oath".

We draft affidavits every day—for rent agreements, name changes, or court petitions.
Most interns just "Copy-Paste" the old format and ask the client to sign. ✍️

This is dangerous. 🛑

Under the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), lying on an affidavit is a serious crime called "Giving False Evidence" (Section 227 BNS, formerly 191 IPC).

If you write "I know this is true" when you actually "Heard it from someone else," you are committing Perjury.

The punishment? Up to 7 Years in Jail (Section 229 BNS). 👮‍♂️

The secret to staying safe lies in the "Verification Clause" at the bottom.
You must clearly separate what is true to your "Personal Knowledge" vs. what is based on "Legal Advice."

I have created a "Safe Affidavit Drafting Guide" 📄.
It includes the correct BNS Sections and the exact "Verification Clause" you should copy-paste to protect yourself and your client.

We spend 5 years in Law School learning sections, but nobody teaches us how to use MS Word. 🤷‍♀️
The biggest mistake interns make? Using the Spacebar to move text to the right.
"Click-click-click-click..."

It looks fine on your screen, but the moment you print it, the lines get messy. And your Senior gets angry. 😤

Legal drafting requires precision. A single formatting error can make a Supreme Court petition look like a school essay.

I have created a "Legal Formatting Cheat Sheet" 📄. It covers the tools that save you hours of work:
1️⃣ The "Tab" Key: How to align dates perfectly.
2️⃣ Ctrl + Shift + L: The magic shortcut for bullet points.
3️⃣ Table of Authorities: How to create a list of cases automatically (no typing!).

SAVE this post now so you don’t panic next time you see these words! 💾👇

And SHARE this with a law buddy who needs a vocabulary update! ↗️

Lawyers have a complicated word for everything. If you’ve ever felt like legal drafts are written in a secret code, here is your cheat sheet to decode them.

The Lawyer's Dictionary:

1️⃣ HEREINAFTER: Lawyers love using this instead of simply saying “from now on.”

2️⃣ WITHOUT PREJUDICE: The sneaky legal way to say “I’m not admitting to anything.”

3️⃣ NOTWITHSTANDING: Sounds complex, but basically just means “but also...” or “despite that.”

4️⃣ HERETOFORE: “Before this.” It’s essentially legal time travel vocabulary.

5️⃣ WHEREAS: If you see this at the start of a contract, it’s just the legal version of “because.”

6️⃣ HITHERTO: Means “until now” (and yes, people actually say this in real life!).

7️⃣ INTER ALIA: Latin for “among other things.” Pretty fancy, right?

8️⃣ PRIMA FACIE: A fancy way to say “at first glance” or based on the first impression.

9️⃣ DEPONENT: The formal word we use for someone giving a sworn statement.

🔟 SUB JUDICE: Means a court case is in progress—so don’t talk about it publicly!

Which of these do you use the most? Let me know below! ⬇️
