Quick facts:
✨ Duration: 3 years full-time / 6 years part-time
✨ Intake: Semester 1
✨ Study location: Casuarina + online options (with required on-campus components)
✨ Accreditation: Approved program recognised by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) for midwife registration
◾️ What you’ll learn:
➖ You’ll build skills for woman-centred, evidence-based care across pregnancy, birth, postnatal and newborn care, with a focus that includes rural, remote and First Nations contexts.
◾️ Placements & practical (read this part carefully) 👀 :
➖ CDU notes compulsory simulation teaching blocks (one week each semester) delivered at multiple sites.
➖ Professional experience placement every semester, typically 3–6 weeks (travel and costs may be student-covered).
➖ Continuity of care is core: students must follow 10–15 women across the degree (antenatal visits, on-call for birth, postnatal visits) in addition to placement.
◾️ Entry & selection:
➖ Admission pathways include: ATAR 80+, a Diploma or higher, 0.5 year of higher ed with GPA 5.5+, STAT (MC) 195, or an enabling program (with competitive GPA).
◾️ Checks & readiness (pre-clinical):
Before clinical placements, CDU lists requirements such as immunisations, Senior First Aid, criminal record checks, working with children clearances and fitness-to-practice requirements.
