Under the directions of the Worthy Secretary, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ganderbal, door-to-door legal awareness campaigns were conducted on 13 August 2026 by Adhikar Mitras in different areas of District Ganderbal with the objective of promoting legal literacy, awareness of welfare schemes and ensuring access to justice at the grassroots level.
The awareness programmes were conducted by Gulam Jeelani Raina at Mamer-B and Thune-C, and Shuhaib Ahmad Lone at Chanthan.
During the campaigns, the Adhikar Mitras sensitized local residents about Samadhan Samaroh, encouraging persons having legal grievances or disputes to approach Legal Services Institutions for free legal aid, mediation, counselling and other legal services for amicable resolution of disputes.
Awareness was also created regarding the NALSA SPRUHA Scheme, Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, POCSO Act under the theme “Suraksh*t Bachpan, Suraksh*t Bhavishya”, State Marriage Assistance Scheme, IGNOPS, IGNWPS, Labour Card Benefits, various Government welfare schemes, Lok Adalats, Tele-Law Services, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), Lokpal, and the rights of women, children and senior citizens.
The public was further sensitized about child protection, prevention of child labour and child marriage, protection from abuse and exploitation, prevention of drug and to***co abuse, and road safety and traffic rules. Residents were encouraged to make use of available welfare schemes and approach the Legal Services Institutions for timely assistance.
Information regarding free legal aid services and NALSA Toll-Free Helpline No. 15100 was also disseminated. The public was encouraged to approach DLSA Ganderbal or the nearest Legal Aid Centre whenever they require legal assistance, counselling or guidance.
The campaigns received an encouraging response from the local residents, who appreciated the efforts of DLSA Ganderbal in taking legal awareness, welfare information and access to justice to their doorstep.
The District Legal Services Authority, Ganderbal, remains committed to strengthening legal literacy, promoting social welfare and ensuring that legal services reach every section of society through sustained door-to-door and community-based outreach programmes.

DLSA Ganderbal Organises Awareness Programme on Fundamental Rights, Duties, Free Legal Aid and NALSA Schemes.

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ganderbal, under the chairmanship of Mr. Abdul Nasir, Chairman, DLSA Ganderbal, and under the able guidance and supervision of Mr. Sheikh Babar Hussain, Secretary, DLSA Ganderbal, organised an awareness programme for students on Fundamental Rights, Fundamental Duties of Citizens, Access to Free Legal Aid and Benefits of Various NALSA Schemes.

Ms. Burjeena Hameed and Ms. Asmat Ameen, Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsels, served as Resource Persons.

Ms. Burjeena Hameed sensitised the students about the Fundamental Rights guaranteed under the Constitution of India and the corresponding Fundamental Duties of citizens,while Ms. Asmat Ameen apprised them about free and competent legal aid and various NALSA schemes available for vulnerable and disadvantaged sections.

The programme witnessed active participation from students and teachers. The students were encouraged to remain aware of their constitutional and legal rights and duties and to disseminate legal awareness within their families and communities.

Mr. Siraj Din, Principal of the School, appreciated the initiative of DLSA Ganderbal and emphasised the importance of legal awareness in nurturing responsible and law-abiding citizens.

The programme concluded with the message that awareness of rights and performance of duties are equally essential for building a just, responsible and inclusive society.

Youth as Architects of a Just and Progressive Society: DLSA Ganderbal Observes International Youth Day at GHSS Wakura

Ganderbal, 12 August 2026:
The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ganderbal, observed International Youth Day today at Government Boys Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Wakura, Ganderbal, with the objective of sensitising students about the significance of youth in nation-building, their rights and responsibilities, and their vital role in creating a just, inclusive and progressive society.

The programme focused on the immense potential of young people as agents of positive social transformation. Students were encouraged to recognise that youth is not merely a stage of life, but a period of ideas, courage, creativity and responsibility that can shape the future of society.

Adv. Tanveer Ashraf, Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsel (LADC), DLSA Ganderbal, who served as the Resource Person, delivered an insightful and engaging lecture on the theme and significance of International Youth Day. He highlighted the important role of young people in strengthening the rule of law, promoting justice and equality, respecting constitutional values, pursuing education, and developing a sense of social and civic responsibility.

In his address, Adv. Tanveer Ashraf emphasised that a strong nation is built not only through institutions and infrastructure, but through responsible, educated, compassionate and legally aware citizens. He urged the students to use knowledge as a means of empowerment and to become voices against discrimination, injustice, substance abuse, violence and other social evils.

The Resource Person further stressed that awareness of legal rights must go hand in hand with an understanding of legal duties, and that young people can contribute significantly to society by respecting the rights and dignity of others and by becoming responsible members of their communities.

Mr. Siraj Din, Principal, Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Wakura, also addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of youth empowerment, education, discipline and active participation in the development of the nation. He appreciated the initiative of DLSA Ganderbal in conducting awareness programmes for students and acknowledged the importance of legal and social awareness among the younger generation.

The programme concluded with a strong message that empowering youth with education, legal awareness, opportunities and a sense of responsibility is an investment in the future of society. The participants were encouraged to transform their potential into purposeful action and contribute towards building a society founded on justice, equality, dignity and mutual respect.

Under the directions of the Worthy Secretary, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ganderbal, a series of door-to-door legal awareness campaigns were conducted on 12 August 2026 by Adhikar Mitras in different areas of District Ganderbal with the objective of promoting legal literacy, spreading awareness about legal and welfare schemes, and ensuring access to justice at the grassroots level.
The awareness programmes were conducted by Gulam Jeelani Raina at Thune, Amreena Naaz at Sumbal, and Aasiya Mohi-ud-Din at Kachnambal-B.
During the campaigns, the Adhikar Mitras sensitized the local residents about the Samadhan Samaroh initiative and encouraged persons having legal grievances or disputes to approach the Legal Services Institutions for free legal aid, mediation, counselling and other legal services for amicable resolution of their issues.
Awareness was also imparted regarding the POCSO Act, emphasizing the legal safeguards available for protection of children from sexual offences, the importance of reporting offences against children, and the collective responsibility of society in ensuring a safe and secure environment for every child.
The residents were further informed about the State Marriage Assistance Scheme, NALSA SPRUHA Scheme, Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, rights of women, children and senior citizens, various Government welfare schemes, and the availability of free legal aid through DLSA Ganderbal. Information was also shared regarding NALSA Toll-Free Helpline No. 15100, Lok Adalats, Tele-Law Services, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), Lokpal and other legal services available through the Legal Services Institutions.
The participants were encouraged to approach DLSA Ganderbal or the nearest Legal Aid Centre whenever they require legal assistance or guidance. DLSA Ganderbal Organises Legal Awareness Programme at BHSS Chhatergul

The District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Abdul Nasir, Chairman, DLSA Ganderbal, and under the able guidance and supervision of Mr. Sheikh Babar Hussain, Secretary, DLSA Ganderbal, organised a Legal Awareness Programme at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Chhatergul, on the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 and NALSA Helpline 15100.

Ms. Shaheena Ali and Ms. Asima Khaliq, Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsels, Ganderbal, served as Resource Persons.

Ms. Shaheena Ali sensitised the students about the key provisions of the Domestic Violence Act, various forms of domestic violence and the legal remedies available to aggrieved women.

Ms. Asima Khaliq apprised the participants about NALSA Helpline 15100 and the availability of free legal aid and assistance through Legal Services Authorities.

The programme witnessed active participation from students and staff. The Resource Persons encouraged the students to remain aware of their legal rights and disseminate legal awareness within their families and communities.

The school administration appreciated the initiative of DLSA Ganderbal and expressed gratitude for conducting the programme.

SAMVAD Unit of DLSA Ganderbal Conducts Awareness Programme on World Tribal Day

The SAMVAD Unit of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal conducted an awareness programme on the occasion of World Tribal Day at Government Higher Secondary School, Wangath, Kangan, with the objective of sensitising participants about the legal rights, constitutional safeguards, entitlements, culture and heritage of tribal communities.

The programme was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Abdul Nasir, Chairman, DLSA Ganderbal, and under the able guidance of Mr. Sheikh Babar Hussain, Secretary, DLSA Ganderbal, and was attended by students, teaching staff and other stakeholders.

Mr. Sajid Irfan, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel, DLSA Ganderbal, highlighted the role of Legal Services Authorities in ensuring free and competent legal assistance and access to justice for tribal and vulnerable communities.

Mr. Manzoor Ahmed Lone, Panel Lawyer, TLSC Kangan, spoke about the rich culture, traditions and heritage of tribal communities and emphasised the need to preserve and promote their unique cultural identity.

Ms. Kinjal Bagdi, Assistant Professor, Department of Law, Central University of Kashmir, highlighted the valuable contribution of tribal communities towards conservation of forests, biodiversity and natural resources, besides their traditional knowledge relating to forest-based resources and medicines. She also apprised the participants about constitutional safeguards, particularly Articles 15(4) and 16(4) of the Constitution of India.

The participants were also sensitised about the objectives of the SAMVAD Unit, including legal awareness, facilitation of free legal aid, protection of rights, access to welfare schemes and community outreach for marginalised, vulnerable and tribal communities, including Adivasis and Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes (DNT/NT/SNTs).

The programme concluded with a reaffirmation of the commitment of the SAMVAD Unit, DLSA Ganderbal, towards strengthening legal empowerment and ensuring effective access to justice for tribal and other vulnerable communities.
