Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, through its University School of Law, announced the release of the 2nd National Moot Court Competition, 2026, inviting participation from law students across the country. The competition is scheduled to be held from 3rd to 5th April 2026 at the university campus.

The official flyer and brochure of the competition was formally released by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr) Pritpal Singh, in the presence of Prof. (Dr) Amita Kaushal, Head and Dean, University School of Law, and Dr. Navneet Kaur, Convenor of the Competition.
Competition is open to students enrolled in three-year and five-year LL.B. programmes from recognised law institutions across India. Detailed rules, moot proposition, and the competition schedule is mentioned in the brochure separately.
The University School of Law extends a cordial invitation to law students nationwide to participate in this prestigious academic event and contribute to an enriching exchange of legal ideas and advocacy excellence.

University School of Law organized two days Inter Class Moot Competition to enhance the advocacy skills of the students. Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Pritpal Singh appreciated the efforts of the students for their participation in the moot event. Head and Dean of University School of Law,Prof. (Dr.) Amita Kaushal while addressing the students highlighted the importance of moot competitions and expressed that it provides opportunity to students to think, analyze legal provisions and to litigate a case.Dr. Navneet Kaur, Dr. Kawaljit Kaur, Ms. Gurleen Kaur and Mr. Amritpal Singh coordinated the event. Total 11 teams participated in Prelims out of which 4 teams reached Semi Finals. Prelims was conducted by Ms. Prabhot kaur, Ms. Rajandeep kaur, Mr. Bakshdeep Singh and Ms. Noor Kamal while semi finals were conducted by Dr. Mohleen Kaur, Ms. Mankirat kaur Sra and Ms. Divjyot Sandhu. Out of 4 teams in Semi Finals, 2 reached the Finals. On 30th September the Finals of the moot competition started at 11am presided by Dr. Navneet kaur and Advocate Simarpreet Singh. In the Finals, Ms. Sujata, Mr. Vanshveer Singh and Mr. Sukhman Singh students of B.A.,LL.B. sem. 5 were adjudged as winner and team consisting of Mr. Jaspreet Singh, Ms. Kamalpreet Kaur and Ms. Harjinder Kaur of B.A.,LL.B. sem. 5 got the prize of best moot memorial. Ms. Harleen kaur was adjudged as Best Researcher and Ms. Parneet kaur as best speaker . All the participants were given participation certificates.
After the Moot Competition, Advocate Simarpreet Singh delivered lecture on "Mastering the Craft: Essentials of Legal Drafting and Pleading" for deeper understanding of drafting skills. He outlined about the preparation and planning to avoid errors and to strengthen the draft, writing skills that is it must be concise and gain attention of reader, and time management. He discussed the strategies in drafting and pleading that could beneficial to students in their profession. The lecture followed by active participation of students with interactive session based on questions and answers.

The University School of Law, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, successfully hosted a Special Lecture on Land Laws on 16 September 2025.

Advocate Kapil Dev Sharma, Retired Sadar Kanungo, District Collector Office, Patiala, shared his rich experience on revenue courts, *Jamabandi* (record of rights) and key revenue proceedings, giving students valuable practical insights.

Grateful thanks to Prof. (Dr.) Pritpal Singh, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, and Prof. (Dr.) Amita Kaushal, Head & Dean, University School of Law for their constant support and guidance in making the event a success.

The University School of Law celebrated India’s 79th Independence Day with immense patriotic fervor and enthusiasm. Organized by the Cultural Committee, the event aimed to honor the nation’s freedom struggle, promote unity, and instill a sense of national pride among students, faculty, and staff.
The cultural program featured a variety of performances by students. A soulful rendition of patriotic songs, including “Vande Mataram” and “Ae Mere Watan Ke Logo,” by the law school choir stirred emotions. A speech competition saw students eloquently address themes such as “The Role of Youth in Nation-Building” and “India’s Journey Since Independence,” showcasing their oratory skills and patriotism.
Prof. (Dr.) Amita Kaushal, Head and Dean delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the role of legal professionals in upholding justice and constitutional values. Dr. Navneet Kaur also spoke, urging students to contribute to India’s progress. The students, faculty, and staff participated, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere.
The event concluded with the distribution of prizes and certificates. This is accompanied by the singing of the national anthem, “Jana Gana Mana,” to instill a sense of pride and unity.

Orientation Program "Justice Begins Here: Law Department Induction 2025"

The University School of Law at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University proudly hosted its Orientation Program titled "Justice Begins Here: Law Department Induction 2025" from 4th to 8th August to warmly welcome its incoming batch of law students. The event, held at the university campus, provided an inspiring introduction to the values and opportunities of legal education. Chief Guest of the Induction Program (07.08.2025) was Sh. Ashok Kumar Chauhan, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) cm Secretary, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Fatehgarh Sahib.

The program began with welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Amita Kaushal, Head and Dean of the University School of Law. Sh. Chauhan inspired the students by his motivational speech.
Prof. (Dr.) Pritpal Singh, Vice-Chancellor remarked, “The University School of Law is a cornerstone of academic and ethical excellence and this program sets the foundation for their transformative journey.”
Dr. Navneet Kaur, Assistant Professor, further encouraged the students to approach their studies with diligence and a commitment to justice.

The University School of Law at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University organized a thought-provoking Special Lecture on “Professional Ethics in Law and Responsibility of Advocates” emphasizing the critical role of integrity and accountability in the legal profession. The highlight of the event was an engaging lecture by (Chief Guest) Sh. Rakesh Gupta, Chairman , Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh who drew from his decades-long judicial career to elaborate on contemporary ethical dilemmas.
