The recent CBDT verification drive has brought high-value **foreign remittances, Form 145/146 compliance, DTAA claims, TDS and cross-border payments** into sharper focus.

The key question is no longer just whether money was sent abroad — but whether the **source, purpose, taxability and documentation** can be explained clearly if the transaction is selected for verification.

🚨 **Foreign Assets Missing From Your ITR? Don’t Ignore Them in 2026**

Have an old **foreign bank account, overseas shares, ESOPs/RSUs, pension account, property or other foreign investment** that was not disclosed in Schedule FA?

**FAST-DS 2026** provides eligible taxpayers a time-bound opportunity to regularise certain past foreign-asset and foreign-income defaults.

What makes the Scheme important is that the treatment can differ substantially:

✅ Undisclosed foreign income/assets up to **₹1 crore** – effective payment may be **60%**
✅ Certain qualifying disclosure-only defaults involving foreign assets up to **₹5 crore** – may be regularised with a **fixed ₹1 lakh fee**

This can be particularly relevant for **NRIs returning to India, overseas employees, ESOP/RSU holders and taxpayers with foreign accounts appearing in AIS under CRS/FATCA information**.

📅 **Last date: 31 December 2026**

Before taking any action, review your residential status, source of funds, previous ITRs, Schedule FA and prescribed valuation.
