What happens when you don't listen to your Advocate's advice?
I had a client, whose matter I had taken up as low-bono, very minimal fees as part my office's initiative.
I drafted, filed and appeared in that case and won it eventually.
After winning the case, I had advised them to file a caveat before High Court.
However, the client refused to do so.
Moreover, the client even refused to pay the minimal fees after I had argued a favourable order.
Despite that we filed a contempt case for implementation of that order.
Then came the client's ungrateful attitude. I dropped him as a client. Disrespect is something where I draw the line.
Now the opppsite party filed an appeal with Delhi High Court. Got a stay on the order. Even Contempt petition was disposed due to the High Court Order.
It is a lesson, listen to your advocate's advice and pay them the fees and behave professionally. Otherwise your case can turn from winning to losing in just few hearings.
