The Central Board of Indirect Taxes vide a notification no. 11/ 2025-CUSTOMS (N.T.), dated February 17, 2025, has released the Customs (On-Arrival Movement for Storage and Clearance at Authorised Importer Premises) Regulations, 2025 (the “Regulations”). The Regulations intend to facilitate trade by permitting eligible importers to move specific categories of imported goods directly from ports to their designated premises for storage and clearance.

Effective January 20, 2025, the Financial Intelligence Unit – India (FIU-IND) has notified additional requirements in the stipulated registration process for virtual digital service providers (VDA SPs). Importantly, as part of such notification, the FIU-IND has made the grant of an “in-principle approval” from the Director of the FIU-IND mandatory for registration of VDA SPs.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has released draft guidelines for e-commerce platforms, requiring self-regulatory measures to protect consumers from fraudulent practices and to ensure ethical practices, consumer protection and transparency in e-commerce operations.
