Our delegation concluded a three-day visit to Dharamsala.

The visit provided an opportunity to engage closely with Tibetan institutions, community leaders, researchers, students, and young people. The programme included an audience with His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, visits to the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile and the Central Tibetan Administration, and discussions with the Tibet Policy Institute, Tibetan Children’s Village, and other Tibetan institutions.

The delegation also met with Tibetan political prisoners, parliamentarians, youth representatives, and members of the Tibetan community, offering valuable perspectives on Tibetan democracy, education, culture, identity, and the community’s future.

We are grateful to all the institutions and individuals who welcomed the delegation and shared their experiences and perspectives throughout the visit.

International Peace Day 🕊️

Peace requires dialogue, mutual respect and a shared commitment to freedom and dignity.

Democratisation is an ongoing process that depends on more than elections. It requires informed citizens, inclusive institutions and a public culture that protects freedom, rights and pluralism.

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom contributes to this process through its work in civic education, dialogue and democratic engagement. By creating spaces for learning and exchange, FNF supports people in developing a stronger understanding of democratic principles, their rights and their ability to participate in public life.

This work is especially important in open societies, where democracy depends on the coexistence of different perspectives. Constructive disagreement, freedom of expression and respect for the rule of law help ensure that citizens can engage meaningfully with one another and with public institutions.

Democracy is strongest when people are not only represented, but also informed, heard and able to shape the decisions that affect their lives.

On International Democracy Day, FNF reaffirms its commitment to democratisation and to societies built on individual freedom, equality, participation and the rule of law.

Happy Teacher’s Day!

Teachers are among the most important contributors to an informed and engaged society. Their work goes beyond delivering lessons: they encourage curiosity, support critical thinking and help learners develop the confidence to form and express their own perspectives.

In classrooms, students learn not only what to think about, but also how to ask questions, listen to different viewpoints and participate constructively in their communities. These are essential foundations for education, active citizenship and open societies.

Today, we thank all teachers for their dedication, patience and lasting contribution to the lives of their students.

What does the rise of BRICS mean for the West and the rules-based international order?

At our Hamburg event, “Challenge for the West: BRICS and India’s Special Role,” experts examined BRICS’ expanding global influence and the diverging interests of its most influential members.

India’s position was at the centre of the discussion. Its policy of strategic autonomy and its close, yet carefully balanced, relationships with major powers give it a distinctive role within BRICS.
