A DOWRY is a transfer of parental property, gifts or money at the marriage of a daughter.

The payment of dowry has long been prohibited under specific Indian law namely “The Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961”. Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961 was enacted to prohibit giving or taking of dowry and related offences.

In 1986 a new offence known as ‘DOWRY DEATH’ was inserted in the IPC by the virtue of section 304-B. Also Section 113B of the Indian Evidence Act,1872 states the presumption as to dowry death.

The distinction between "Temporary Injunction" and "Attachment before Judgement" reinforces the need to preserve the suit property till final orders are passed in the former and to secure the petitioner for facilitating ex*****on of a decree in the latter. Although, the terms 'order' and 'decree' can be interchangeably used depending on the nature of the application, the thrust of the two provisions, read together, is saving the suit property till the right of the petitioner is established to proceed with the suit and to save the petitioner from the decree – or the possibility thereof – being frustrated once the suit nears culmination.
