9 Judges appointed to the Supreme Court of India

Nine new judges were appointed as Supreme Court judges on August 31st. Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana administered the oath of office to all new nine judges- Justice AS Oka, Justice Vikram Nath, Justice JK Maheshwari, Justice Hima Kohli, Justice BV Nagarathna, Justice CT Ravikumar, Justice MM Sundresh, Justice Bela M Trivedi and Justice PS Narsimha.

This is the first time in history of the Supreme Court that nine judges have taken the oath of office in one go. The swearing-in ceremony would be held in the auditorium of the Supreme Court's additional building complex due to the corona virus pandemic. Traditionally, new judges take the oath of office in the CJI's courtroom. Due to these appointments the strength of judges in the Supreme Court will increase from 24 to 33 leaving just one vacancy. Out of the nine new judges 3 are women, the Supreme Court has seen very few women judges since its inception. In the last 71 years the court has appointed only 8 women judges.

Here are the nine new judges of the Supreme Court:

2. Justice BV Nagarathna: Justice Nagarathna was a judge of the Karnataka High Court. Justice Nagarathna is in line to become the first woman CJI in September 2027.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!

One of the most memorable days in Indian history is 15th August. It’s the day on which the Indian sub-continent got independence after a long struggle. India only has three national festivals that are celebrated by the whole nation as one.

One being the Independence Day (15th August) and the other two being Republic Day (26th January) and Gandhi Jayanti (2nd October). After independence, India became the largest democracy in the world. We fought very hard to get our independence from the Britishers.

HAPPY FRIENDSHIP DAY

The day was first started in 1958 in Paraguay but many believe that its origin is rooted in 1930 from Hallmark cards, by Joyce Hall.

Friends are like stars in the sky. You may not always notice them, but they are always watching over you.

International Tiger Day

Tiger is a royal and majestic animal which plays a vital role in maintaining the health and diversity of an ecosystem. It is a top predator and sits at the apex of the food chain. Tigers contribute by keeping the population of wild ungulates in check, therefore the balance of prey herbivores and the vegetation upon which they feed is maintained. The cutting down of trees which leads to habitat loss, hunting, and illegal trading of tiger’s body parts are some of the prime factors behind the decline in tiger population.

Unfortunately, tigers are one of the species that is nearing extinction. Therefore, to spread awareness on tiger conservation, International Tiger Day or Global Tiger Day is celebrated every year on July 29.

Eid-Al-Adha 2021

With three days long celebration and excitement of Eid-Al-Adha, it is the second biggest religious festival of the Muslim community. Also known as the Muslim’s feast of sacrifice or Festival of sacrifice, this celebration starts with several delicious traditional dishes made with love. Muslims across the globe celebrate together and honor the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son for Allah. This festival is celebrated with enough fervour and delight as people dress up nicely and visit each other's homes to spread happiness, laughter, cheer and of course, sweets!

Does the Creditor have joint claim for CIRP against the corporate debtors for the same debts?

The Blog centers around Creditor have joint or multiple claims for CIRP against the corporate debtors for the same debts. When the Corporate Debtor defaults in making payments to its creditors the process of Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) can be initiated against it by its creditors. The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (hereafter "the Code") provides the process for insolvency resolution process (IRP). The precedents set by NCLAT and the Hon’ble Supreme Court make it difficult for an average person to get a clear view of the situation.

MISOGYNY- A FORM OF HATE SPEECH

Written by:

In this article the author have explained how misogyny occurs when women accept sexist stereotypes and ideas without realising it. It's a result of years of female oppression. We are raised in a patriarchal society that constantly objectifies women. It takes a heavy toll to be surrounded by people and media who constantly promote the idea that women are inferior. Women began to internalise the hatred and objectification that they see around them. It seeps beneath the surface and has an impact on how women perceive themselves and the women around them.
Women from previous generations have internalised misogyny as a result of years of patriarchal expectations and being forced to follow outdated gender roles. Their internalised misogyny has an impact on how they treat women in their lives, such as their daughters and daughters-in-law. The misogyny that surrounded them began to seep into the women around them. It has turned into a vicious cycle that has oppressed women for generations. The author mainly threw light on legal perspective and women facing misogyny in Indian scenario.
