Amidst the joy of Diwali, many homes are deserted this time. The reason is a viral "fun trend" on Instagram, which has plunged many children's lives into darkness. A carbide gu*n made with improvised improvised improvisation is now wreaking havoc across the state. More than 200 children have been injured and hospitalized in Bhopal, Vidisha, Gwalior, and Indore. Many have permanently lost their eyesight, and some have suffered burns to their faces.

15-20 days before Diwali, when the country was embroiled in a debate over the harmful effects of firecrackers and the pollution they cause, Instagram and YouTube reels were promoting a firecracker gu*n made from PVC pipes as cool. Content creators were calling it a green firecracker. Meanwhile, in various parts of the city, some people set up stalls by laying sheets on the roadside. They would pour carbide into a pipe filled with water, add pieces of stone, shake it, and remove the stone. Then, by pressing the button on a lighter, the gu*n would exp*lode.
