MET HONBLE GOVERNOR OF PUNJAB. HAD FRUITFUL TALKS ON LONG LINGERING SIKH ISSUES WHICH NEED REDRESSAL AT THE HANDS OF GOVT OF INDIA.
PRESS RELEASE
Sikh community had played a major role in Pre-1947 Independence movement of India and also have been playing a major role to keep the borders of Indian nation secure after Independence and till now. However there are issues of the Sikh community which are lying un-addressed and unattended by successive Indian Governments.
Issues of Sikhs are intertwined with Punjab and so Punjab being a border state needs special attention and so do the Sikhs.
In order to create an atmosphere for resolution of the issues of Sikh community which can be resolved within the constitutional framework of India, We had identified 12 issues on which the Government of India could initiate talks with Sikhs. We under the signatures of 10 representatives of Sikh community had posted a letter / representation addressed to Government of India, through its Home Department on 15th May 2026.In this regard We had also obtained an appointment from the Honble Governor of Punjab Who honoured us with his consent to meet our delegation on 5th June 2026, i.e. Today.
We met the Honble Governor today and after discussing the issues highlighted by us, requested him to endorse our representation and to take up the matter mentioned in our representation with GOI.
Our meeting today with the Governor of Punjab was fruitful and We hope that the dialogue which has been initiated by us will be undertaken by the Government of India in the right spirit and perspective.
We have also decided to call a Panthik meeting of representatives of the Sikh Community who can play a role in this process of talks and can put forward an effective case of the Sikhs before the GOI. For that it has been decided by us to hold a meeting in the precincts of Kedriya Singh Sabha Sector 28, Chandigarh on Monday, 29th June 2026.
We must clarify that we are just the initiators of the proposed talks which may be held in case GOI reacts positively and Our efforts are just to create an atmosphere where talks can take place between Sikhs and GOI. Our effort is to break the ice between both the parties.
We also clarify again that the 12 points which we have raised in our letter / representation dated 15th May 2026 may not be considered to be all issues which need to be addressed and can be always added in future in case it is so decided by the Sikh community.
We are open to suggestions which can be sent in writing through Whats App or my email [email protected].
