The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has initiated Town Planning (TP) Scheme No. 8 under Zone 2 as part of its broader effort to ensure planned and sustainable urban growth in the city. The scheme covers 560.81 acres across the villages of Andharua and Daspur, two rapidly developing areas on Bhubaneswar’s outskirts.
The primary objective of the TP scheme is to bring order to urban expansion through scientific land-use planning. The project includes the demarcation of roads, residential plots, and property boundaries, helping streamline future infrastructure development and reduce unplanned growth.
To enhance accuracy and transparency, BDA is using GIS-based layouts and has mandated weekly geo-tagged progress reports to closely monitor implementation. The authority has set an ambitious completion target of four months for the scheme.
TP Scheme No. 8 is part of a larger roadmap of 45 town planning schemes being rolled out across Bhubaneswar to systematically manage population growth, infrastructure demand, and land development, ensuring the city’s long-term urban sustainability.
