Kashmir Bar Association Strongly Condemns Alleged Misconduct Towards Legal Fraternity at Sopore

Advocate Haamid Bhat, President, Kashmir Bar Association,on behalf of the Association,strongly condemns the alleged disrespectful conduct and use of unparliamentary and inappropriate language by the Tehsildar,Sopore towards members of the legal fraternity.

Advocate Haamid Bhat expressed serious concern over the alleged incident and stated that any conduct which undermines the dignity,honour and professional standing of advocates is unacceptable. Public authorities are expected to maintain the highest standards of institutional decorum and extend due respect to members of the legal profession.

The Kashmir Bar Association stands in complete solidarity with the Bar Association Sopore and its members.The Association demands that the concerned Tehsildar tender an unconditional apology for the alleged conduct and calls upon the competent authorities to examine the matter fairly and take appro

The Executive Committee of the Bar Association Sopore has held unanimously today to observe a token pen-down strike in protest against an unfortunate incident that occurred yesterday at Tangmarg, wherein a senior advocate namely Rafi-u-Zaman was allegedly subjected to assault at first and subsequently FIR was also lodged against him. The Bar Association Sopore strongly condemns the incident and expresses solidarity with the Advocate & legal fraternity in general. The physical assault on an Advocate is highest form of brutality and highhandedness of the law enforcement agencies and it is high time to raise voice against such incident.

Accordingly, all members are requested to abstain from court work today as a mark of protest. This decision has been taken unanimously by the Executive Committee and is binding upon all members
