Temporary visa applicants in Australia will not be required to undertake medical examinations and chest x-rays, based on their nationality, previous residence and proposed length of stay, in order to meet the health requirement.

What does this mean for existing medical appointments?

The Department’s contracted service provider will be in touch with you soon to cancel appointments where they are no longer required and provide refunds.

What has changed

In the mid-range, where the test is typically used for academic admissions purposes, the updated concordant scores have been minimally adjusted.

At IELTS 7.5 and above, the concordant PTE Academic scores, while in the same range, are at some points higher on the scale.

At IELTS 6.5 and below the concordant PTE Academic scores, while in the same range, are at some points lower on the scale.

· Immigration intake ceiling holds at 160,000 places

· Prospective Marriage 300, Pacific Labour Scheme and Seasonal Worker Programme visa holders eligible for visa application charge (VAC) refund

· Temporary Skilled Work and Visitor visa holders will be given a VAC waiver for their next visa application

· Working Holiday 417/462 visa holders can choose a VAC waiver or refund

· Onshore applications receive priority

· Employer-Sponsored, Global Talent, and Business Innovation and Investment visas receive priority

· Partner visa applicants with sponsors in designated regional areas receive priority

· Family steam allocated 160% increased places to 77, 300 (one-off)

· Working Holiday 417/462 visa holders allowed to work in construction work, paid and volunteer disaster recovery work and can work with the same employer for 12 months

· Working Holiday 417/462 visa holders in food processing/agriculture are eligible for a further visa and will be exempted from the 6 month limitation with 1 employer

· Seasonal Work Program and Pacific Labour Scheme workers in agriculture whose visas are expiring can extend their visas by 12 months for work under approved employers

· New Zealander 444 visa holders applying for the Skilled Independent 189 visa will be eligible if their taxable income for 3 of the last 5 income years, including the latest income year meets the TSMIT: $53,900
