*💰 Late Fee under Section 234F*
(Applicable even if no tax is payable, subject to the provisions of the Act)
*• Total Income up to ₹5,00,000: Late Fee – ₹1,000*
*• Total Income above ₹5,00,000: Late Fee – ₹5,000*
*📑 Due Dates for Filing ITR (AY 2026–27)*
*• ITR-1 & ITR-2* (Non-audit cases – Salaried, Capital Gains, etc.): *31 July 2026*
*• ITR-3 & ITR-4* (Non-audit cases – Business & Profession, including eligible cases under Section 44AD): *31 August 2026*
*⏳ Belated Return*
• A belated return under Section 139(4) can be filed up to *31 December 2026*, or before completion of assessment, whichever is earlier.
• To carry forward losses (except house property loss and unabsorbed depreciation), the return must be filed *within the original due date under Section 139(1)* — i.e., 31 July/31 August 2026. This eligibility is lost if only the belated return is filed.
*📌 Interest under Section 234A*
• Interest is charged at 1% per month (or part thereof) on the unpaid tax liability from the original due date until the date of filing.
*✅ Advisory:* File your Income Tax Return within the prescribed due date to avoid late fee, interest liability, and to preserve your eligibility to carry forward eligible losses.
