When Goddess Sati was forced to hear her father, Daksha, insult her husband Lord Shiva she declared the mandatory behavior expected of an individual who lacks the physical power to punish the offender.
Srimad Bhagavatam 4.4.17:
karṇau pidhāya nirayād yad akalpa īśedharmāvitary asṛṇibhir nṛbhir asyamāne "
Meaning:
If one hears an irresponsible person blaspheme the master and controller of religion, one should block his ears and go away if unable to punish him."
If one can not resist those defaming Sanatan dharma then atleast desist those who are doing.
