Another significant High Court success for our client reported on 2 August by the Irish Independent (see below).

We are proud to have represented Caroline Teltsch in the latest chapter of the long-running litigation concerning Emerald Equestrian (formerly Jessbrook Equestrian Centre).

In a judgment delivered by Mr Justice Brian Cregan, the High Court dismissed proceedings brought by James Buckley, Paula Buckley, Hazel Kiely and Stephen O'Reilly against our client. The Court also rejected allegations made against Ms Teltsch's legal team and confirmed that they acted lawfully throughout the proceedings.

Our Principal, Donnacha Anhold, has represented Ms Teltsch throughout this long-running and complex property dispute. We are immensely proud of his dedication and unwavering commitment in securing this important outcome, along with the exceptional support of his team at Carter Anhold and the barristers representing and assisting our client.

Congratulations to our client on this significant result.

We are seeking a full-time Legal Secretary to join our busy team in our Sligo office.

The Role:
The successful candidate will provide secretarial and administrative support to solicitors within
our Conveyancing and Probate Department and will play an important role in ensuring the
smooth and efficient management of client matters.

Responsibilities will include:
- Drafting, formatting and proofreading legal correspondence and documents.
- Opening and managing files, both electronically and in hard copy.
- Liaising professionally with clients, solicitors, financial institutions, estate agents, local
authorities and other third parties.
- Managing diaries, appointments and solicitor schedules.
- Preparing closing documentation and assisting with conveyancing and probate
transactions.
- Maintaining records and ensuring compliance with office procedures.
- General administrative and secretarial duties as required.

The Ideal Candidate:
The successful applicant will possess
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general IT systems.
- A professional and courteous manner when dealing with clients and colleagues.
- The ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team.
- A commitment to confidentiality and high professional standards.

Previous legal secretarial or administrative experience would be advantageous but is not
essential, as training will be provided to the right candidate.

The Law Society Gazette reported on 2 June regarding the nationwide rollout of the online probate application service. Since 2 June 2026, solicitors across Ireland have been able to submit probate applications online through the Courts Portal. This digital development aims to make the probate process more efficient by reducing paperwork and helping to streamline applications.

The digital probate application process is evolving (such as rolling out support for intestacy applications).

A recent Court of Appeal decision has been highlighted today in The Irish Times where Mary Carolan’s article draws attention to the complexities that can arise in divorce-related asset disputes. The case involved an elderly divorced couple and the proposed sale of the family home as part of wider proceedings concerning the division of assets. The Court of Appeal granted a reprieve from the sale order while certain outstanding matters are considered.
