Happy Chilean Independence Day ! 🇨🇱
Today we're celebrating with Marlene, Chile's rich culture, history, and traditions with some delicious Chilean buns!
A fascinating fact about Chile is its unique Irish connection. One of Chile's founding fathers and key leaders in the country's fight for independence, Bernardo O'Higgins, was the son of Ambrosio O'Higgins, an Irishman from County Sligo who rose to become Governor of Chile and later Viceroy of Peru. Bernardo O'Higgins went on to lead Chile's journey to independence and is regarded as one of the nation's most important historical figures.
As we mark Chilean Independence Day, we're delighted to celebrate the contributions of our Chilean colleagues and the cultural connections that bring people and communities together across the globe.
