This month is of critical importance for beneficiaries receiving an inheritance or gift. Pay and file deadlines where the valuation date falls between the 01/09/2023 to the 31/08/2024 are due by the 31st of this month or by the 14th November if filing online through ROS.

Budget 2025 has introduced an increase on the threshold for Capital Acquisition Tax the first since 2019. Group A (which is the parent to child) threshold has been increased to €400,000 with Group B to €40,000 and Group C to €20,000.

Although a welcomed change considering the rapid increase in property values, still in our opinion too low.

Stamp duty has been increased to 6% for purchases over 1.5 million. Transitional arrangements are in place for ongoing transactions thus dates are important.
