Developers are facing a cliff edge to get almost 40,000 homes built as they race against the expiry of planning permissions within the next two years. New data published by the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) shows almost 89,000 housing units approved since 2021 have yet to commence construction. Of these, some 37,919 will see their five-year planning approval lapse by the end of 2028.
