It's day 3 of our Employment Permit breakdown series.

Next up is the Critical Skills Employment Permit. This visa aims to attract highly skilled persons to work in the Republic of Ireland. Professions included under this type of permit may include: medical professionals, engineers, software & ICT professionals, etc.

Eligibility criteria for this work permit include:
- All occupations listed on the Critical Skills Occupation List with a minimum salary of €32,000.
- For the above, a relevant degree qualification or higher is required.
- Nurses or midwives must have a degree or diploma that is accepted by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
- All occupations with a minimum salary of €64,000 or more (other than those listed on the Ineligible List of Occupations for Employment Permits).
- Applicants must have a 2-year job offer in place from their employer.

As part of our work permits breakdown series, today we are outlining the Dependant/Partner/Spouse Employment Permits 💍

This permit allows a dependant, partner or spouse of a Critical Skills Employment Permit holder to apply for their own Irish employment permit. A key attractive element of this work permit is that all jobs/occupations in Ireland are eligible.

Criteria for this work permit include:
- The Department of Justice and Equality must determine that you are a dependant of a Critical Skills Employment Permit holder, or of a Researcher on Hosting Agreement.
- The dependant must have been continually living in the Republic of Ireland since arriving.
- The applicant must not be pursuing full-time education.
- The applicant must be living with the Critical Skills Employment Permit holder, or the Researcher.

Are you finding it difficult to understand the many options there are surrounding Irish employment permits? We're here to help! 🤝

Starting from today, we will be posting daily with a summary of each of the nine permits available. First up is the General Employment Permit.

Irish General Employment Permits are used by the state to attract foreign nationals to work in Ireland in occupations which are experiencing a labour shortage. All occupations (except those listed on the Ineligible List of Occupations for Employment Permits) are eligible. Typically, a General Employment Permit can be issued for a two-year period, and can then be renewed for a further three years.

Eligibility criteria for this work permit include, but are not limited to:
- Minimum annual salary (typically greater than €30,000).
- Occupation cannot be listed on the Ineligible List of Occupations for Employment Permits.
- The prospective employee must possess the relevant qualifications or experience required.
- The prospective employer must be registered with the Revenue Commissioners & the CRO.
- The prospective employee must be employed & paid directly by the prospective employer.
