For example, after spending 183 days in Indonesia, you may become an Indonesian tax resident ☝️ But it’s not just about the number of days. The tax authorities may also consider where you actually live, whether you intend to stay in the country, and where your income comes from. At the same time, simply having a KITAS does not automatically mean you have to pay tax in Indonesia.

Here’s what changed in Bali and Indonesia last month👇

1️⃣ Planning an October trip? Bali’s dry season is expected to last longer this year, with the rainy season arriving later than usual.

2️⃣ Bali flights are back to normal after the Anak Krakatau eruption disrupted some routes earlier this month.

3️⃣ More than 500 foreigners were denied entry to Bali between January and August — often due to visa issues or passports with less than six months left.

October is usually a transition month between Bali’s dry and rainy seasons, but this year the sunshine looks set to stick around longer ☀️

According to BMKG, the rainy season isn’t expected across most of Bali until December, with some areas seeing it start in November. So there should still be plenty of time to enjoy the outdoors!

Add to your itinerary:

• Beaches and sunsets in Uluwatu
• Rice terraces, temples and waterfalls
• A few days on Nusa Penida or the Gili Islands
• Surfing, snorkeling and diving

☝️ But keep in mind: a later rainy season doesn’t mean no rain at all. Short downpours are still possible, especially at night and in the mountains.

A few tips:
▫️ Plan day trips for the morning
▫️ Pack a lightweight rain jacket
▫️ Check wave and wind forecasts before boat trips
▫️ Keep a free day in your itinerary in case plans need to change

🏡 Buying land in Bali through a local nominee? Police are warning foreign investors about the risks.

Registering land in an Indonesian citizen’s name may seem like a straightforward solution, especially when separate agreements are in place to protect your interests. But those agreements don’t necessarily protect your investment.

⚠️ A Bali police spokesperson has warned that nominee arrangements could result in criminal liability and the land being confiscated by the state.

Police have also highlighted common forms of land fraud, including forged certificates, the same plot being sold to multiple buyers, and intimidation.
