A look back at our Indonesia Market Entry Seminar in Tokyo.
Last week, we had the pleasure of bringing together business leaders, investors, legal professionals, and practitioners in Tokyo for a practical discussion on entering and doing business in Indonesia.
Together with our co-organizers and speakers from IIPC Tokyo, Gani.AI, and Marunouchi Sogo Law Office, we explored a question that goes beyond simply “Why Indonesia?”:
How should Japanese companies assess the opportunity, choose the right entry strategy, and manage their operations once they enter the market?
The discussion covered a range of practical issues, including:
• Governance of Indonesian subsidiaries by Japanese headquarters
• Local partners, distribution structures, and market entry routes
• Key considerations for manufacturers considering local production
• Emerging opportunities across Indonesia and Southeast Asia
• The opportunities and challenges of applying AI to cross-border legal and business operations
We were also particularly pleased to have Ruly Fitra Nasrullah of IIPC Tokyo share his perspective on Indonesia’s investment landscape, alongside insights from practitioners working across law, technology, and Japan–Indonesia business.
A sincere thank you to Ruly, Bintang Hidayanto, Naufal Fileindi, and Kyota Konnai for sharing their perspectives, to Ayuki for moderating the discussion, and to everyone who joined us and contributed to such an engaging conversation.
The event reinforced an important point: successful expansion into Indonesia is not simply about identifying an attractive market. It is about understanding when to enter, how to enter, and how to build the right structure for long-term growth.
We look forward to continuing to create opportunities that connect Japanese businesses with Indonesia and the broader Southeast Asian market.
More to come.
