Authorities are considering increasing the permitted building height from the current 15 meters to 45.

The proposal has already sparked debate, but officials emphasize that it’s not about uncontrolled development — it’s about adapting to the island’s rapid growth.

The initiative comes from a parliamentary commission and has been submitted to Governor Wayan Koster for review.

The reason is simple: Bali is developing fast, available land is becoming scarce, and demand for hotels and modern infrastructure continues to rise.

The island is preparing for Nyepi, the most important holiday in the Balinese Hindu calendar, often considered the Balinese New Year.

For 24 hours, life on Bali comes to a complete stop: the airport closes, ferry services are suspended, people are not allowed to go outside, and lights and noise are strictly prohibited.

Exceptions are made only for certain resorts with their own private enclosed territory.

On the evening before Nyepi, the famous Ogoh-Ogoh parade takes place. In every district, locals create giant demon statues and, after sunset, carry them through the streets in a colorful and noisy procession.

We would like to inform you about changes in the Investor KITAS application process.

These updates apply to both ongoing and new applications.

The Indonesian immigration system has been updated and is now integrated with the BKPM system.
Due to data synchronization, some Investor KITAS extension or onshore applications may be temporarily placed in pending status.

❗️This is a technical matter and is not related to any mistakes on the applicant’s side.

What you need to know:
✔️ The immigration photo session is carried out as scheduled
✔️ All documents have been accepted and are in the system
✔️ Processing will continue automatically once BKPM data is fully verified

We monitor the status of every application and keep the process under control.
As soon as the system completes the data update, the application will proceed without any additional action required from your side.

🌴 When is it time to apply for a Bali KITAS? If Bali is more than just a short vacation spot for you — and you’re planning to live, work, or invest here — a tourist visa is no longer enough.

You’ll need a KITAS if you:
▫️ plan to stay in Bali for a year or longer
▫️ work remotely or are employed by an Indonesian company
▫️ invest in or own a business
▫️ are married to an Indonesian citizen
▫️ are retiring and want to live in Indonesia legally

The country is preparing to launch Global Citizenship Indonesia (GCI), a special status for foreign investors that combines the benefits of long-term stay, business opportunities and residency privileges.

What you should know now:

🔹 GCI is not traditional citizenship.
It’s a new hybrid model — a long-term status that grants broad rights to live and invest in Indonesia, but *without* receiving an Indonesian passport.

🔹 The focus is on attracting capital and highly skilled professionals.
The status is designed as a tool to support economic growth, technology and tourism development.

🔹 Potential benefits of GCI may include:
• long-term residence in Indonesia
• simplified investment procedures
• expedited government services
• flexible entry and exit privileges
