Founded in 2021 by one of the leading bat experts in Croatia and the region, our small team boasts years of knowledge and experience from more than 100 projects with special focus on renewables and Natura 2000 species and habitats, as well as monitoring projects, management plans and best practice site-specific mitigation measures, mostly regarding bats. ๐ŸŽ‰ From May 20 to 22, Opatija hosted ๐‘๐„๐’ ๐ƒ๐š๐ฒ๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ” / ๐ƒ๐š๐ง๐ข ๐Ž๐ˆ๐„ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ” (Renewable Energy Sources of Croatia), the largest national conference dedicated to renewable energy. Over three days, the city became a meeting point for the energy sector, bringing together experts to discuss the future of energy at a time when the topic is increasingly linked to security of supply, economic competitiveness, and affordability.

โ— The discussion focused on a increasingly relevant question: how to accelerate the modernization of existing facilities while ensuring clear rules for spatial planning, environmental protection, and asset management throughout their entire lifecycle.

๐Ÿฆ‡ From March 23โ€“26, we were in Bulgaria to share our experience through a training session on bat research methodologies and monitoring schemes. Training was organised as part of the ๐๐š๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐š ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐ฃ๐ž๐œ๐ญ ๐ƒ๐ž๐Ÿ๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ง๐  ๐’๐ฉ๐ž๐œ๐ข๐Ÿ๐ข๐œ ๐Ž๐›๐ฃ๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž๐ฌ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐Œ๐ž๐š๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ญ๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐ž๐ ๐€๐ซ๐ž๐š๐ฌ ๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐๐€๐“๐”๐‘๐€ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ ๐๐ž๐ญ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค to support local research teams and strengthen their capacity for effective bat monitoring. The training was focused on defining site-specific conservation objectives and measures for areas within the Natura 2000 network.

๐Ÿž๏ธ The training took place in the Sinite Kamani Nature Park, near the city of Sliven, where we worked together with local research teams in a mountainous setting at over 1000 m above sea level.

๐Ÿ‘ฅ Our visit focused on the exchange of experience and best practices, with our team contributing as external experts to support the upcoming field implementation.

๐Ÿ’ก Through lectures and on-site field training, we presented our approach to bat monitoring, focusing on the importance of standardised surveys, modern technologies, and the use of specialised equipment, alongside practical demonstrations of mist-net setup and site selection.

โ— This collaboration contributes to a broader effort of defining species specific conservation objectives and measures within the Natura 2000 sites.
