When an AI-related loss occurs under an insurance policy that says nothing about AI, what happens if the dispute goes to litigation? With the Hong Kong courts yet to hear such cases, our Partner Stephanie Lai considers the complex arguments.

Those are legitimate questions for underwriters and brokers. But from a...

How does the winning party in a court case recover legal costs? It is a process that requires meticulous time recording and accurate documentation, as our Partner Stephanie Lai and Trainee Solicitor Gillian Choi explained during an in-house seminar. “Recovered costs often fall drastically short of actual expenditure, which directly impacts client satisfaction and a law firm’s profitability,” says Stephanie. “Thus, from the outset of a case, rigorous attention to detail is essential to maximise recoverable costs. It is important for our practitioners to be fully informed about this critical aspect of case management.” The seminar was conducted in-person and online, allowing many of BC&C’s legal team to attend.
