東涌炮台是法定古蹟，清代稱為東涌所城，在深圳的大鵬所城為總部及左營，東涌所城為右營。內裏包括東涌鄉事委員會及東涌公立學校的建築物。學校的主建築正在維修，後排的課室和附屬建築卻被樹木包圍。差不多二百年前的城牆與新型的高樓大廈形成很大的對比。

Not until 2018, Starbucks opened its branch in Italy and this Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Milan was the first.
The building originally served as Milan’s stock exchange (1901-1932) before transitioning into the city’s central post office (1932-2011). About 10 years ago, a real estate firm acquired this historic building and initiated a 23 million Euro restoration project to restore it into retail and office space.
The double-height grand hall was restored with reference to the 1901 stock exchange and mosaic floor tiles were also restored.
The shop is popular to tourists now, more interpretations to the background and history of the buildings will be even better.

This historic theatre in Milan is impressive, keeping a balance of conservation with interpretation and the modern requirement for stage performance. Each seat is installed with monitor for translation, the stage can be adjusted up and down with a big void for keeping the large scale props while there is instrumental performance in between opera shows.

Often we don’t like opened / half-opened area as it creates problem in management, such as floors getting wet, walls become moldy, slipping hazards etc. If we can respect the original architecture, we may find out more hidden details in their design.
