Lynda Calver, Hong Kong Financial Planner

Lynda Calver, Hong Kong Financial Planner I help expatriates in Hong Kong to find tax-effective financial planning solutions. My financial career began in the UK with Barclays in 2002.

My name is Lynda Calver and I am a professional financial planner with nearly 20 years of experience in the industry. I am fully qualified and licenced to practice in Hong Kong, where I specialise in helping expatriates. My clients' backgrounds and circumstances are amazingly diverse and represent a complete cross-section of society and professions. Originally, I am from Cape Town in South Africa,

but my career has taken me worldwide, working and living in the UK, Australia, China and Thailand, and, since 2014, Hong Kong. I have been an expatriate for most of my adult life, an invaluable experience in advising my clients. Seeking a challenge, and to further my career, I moved to Bangkok, joining Infinity in 2010 and have since become one of their most experienced and qualified consultants. In addition to my Hong Kong qualifications and licenses, I am a member of and hold qualifications with the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and am currently studying and working towards full chartered status. I adhere firmly to the CII's Code of Ethics. I am completely transparent and open with my clients, believing this provides the clarity they need to make the best informed financial decisions. I offer a holistic advisory service that always starts with the client’s objectives to help them live comfortably and build a secure financial future. I can assist with a full range of financial needs, including pensions, investments and savings at all income levels, insurance, estate planning, and even complex trust and tax planning. Over the years, I have helped hundreds of clients organise their finances. For me, financial planning is not limited to a single piece of advice and then moving on as is common in the industry. Instead, I like to build long term relationships and help people manage their finances to meet their needs as circumstances change. As a result, many of my clients have been with me for years. Many are located throughout the world but know I am only a Zoom, WhatsApp or phone call away. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, going to the gym and am in my 5th year of paddling with my dragon boat team, SMUGz. I am also a keen follower of a variety of sports, especially rugby and cricket. As a big foodie, I regularly enjoy the Hong Kong restaurant scene. Thank you for taking the time to read my introduction. There is no charge for an initial introduction and if you would like references, please do not hesitate to ask.

When it comes to investing, many women don’t struggle with ability or intelligence. What often holds us back is confidence.

Fear of getting it wrong.
Fear of losing money.
Fear of not knowing where to start.

These fears are common and completely understandable. Yet left unaddressed, they can quietly prevent women from engaging with their finances, asking questions, or taking steps that support long-term security and independence.

To celebrate International Women’s Day, we’re hosting an Empowerment Breakfast focused on addressing these challenges directly:

Mindset for Confident Investing: Facing Your Fears and Taking Action

This session is designed to explore the emotional side of investing. We’ll look at how mindset shapes financial decisions, why fear plays such a powerful role, and how greater awareness can lead to clearer, more confident action.

I’ll be joined by Monica Browning, founder of Courage Through Coaching, who specialises in helping women build confidence, clarity and momentum in their careers and financial lives. Together, we’ll share practical insights and tools to help you move forward with greater confidence and purpose.

The morning will focus on:

✅ Understanding the fears that commonly surround investing
✅ Recognising how mindset influences financial behaviour
✅ Building confidence through informed, realistic action
✅ Taking steps that feel aligned rather than overwhelming
