Georgia’s success at Vilnius summit and to overcome its legacy, must not oppose each other, the European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule said at the Batumi Eastern Partnership conference.
He says that it’s a myth that Georgia won’t achieve success at the Vilnius summit.
“I’m very happy that I have the possibility to express my viewpoint about two myths about debates on Georgia. The first myth is that Georgia’s chances of success are too low in Europe Union and that Georgia doesn’t follow the route to Europe and Democratic reforms. It is a myth and must be broken. The second myth is that it doesn’t matter how the state is working on the past heritage and that EU is not quite active and doesn’t perceive the processes that take place in the country. It is not the truth, as we observe all the activities in Georgia. All the processes are important for the EU. Standards and Values must be followed to achieve the success together. Two goals – Georgia’s success at the Vilnius summit and overcoming the legacy must not oppose each other”, Fule said.
Fule declared that it is his third visit in the last 9 months to Georgia, which confirms Georgia’ importance For EU as a partner and a friend.
