What’s the biggest benefit of the new Child‑Centred Courts approach?

One of the most meaningful changes is how much quicker cases can now be resolved. When disputes drag on, hostility often increases and children end up stuck in the middle. Under the old adversarial system, their wishes, feelings and overall welfare could easily get overshadowed by the conflict. The new approach aims to prevent that by keeping the child’s needs at the centre from the very start.

Based in our Bristol office, Daisy joined us in August 2026 after achieving a 2:1 Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Bournemouth University. With experience in social media management, she is now eager to immerse herself in digital marketing.

High Bar for Proving Fraud in M&A Warranty Claims

In Veranova’s acquisition of Johnson Matthey’s Health Business, the court found a warranty breach and inadequate disclosure. However, liability under the SPA required fraud or wilful misconduct. The court held that fraud was not proven and that knowledge could not be combined across individuals to establish dishonesty.

Louis joined Kidwells in 2025 and began his journey in our Client Relationship team. Since then, he has grown confidently into his role within the Bristol office, bringing focus, reliability, and a strong work ethic to every task.

Now a Paralegal in our Residential Conveyancing department, Louis supports our conveyancers in progressing transactions efficiently and providing a smooth experience for clients.

Amber joined Kidwells in 2025 and has grown confidently into her role within the Hereford office. With her LLB (Hons) Law Degree and plans to complete the SQE, she brings commitment and care to every matter she supports.

Now a Paralegal in our Family & Crime department, Amber assists the team by liaising with the necessary people and helping progress work efficiently across a range of cases.

Based in our Bristol office, Phoebe joins us after completing her Law LLB (Hons) at the University of the West of England. With over five years of customer service experience, she has now joined the Client Relationship Team where she is looking forward to progressing her career and supporting our clients throughout their time with the firm.

Child‑Centred Courts are changing how child arrangement disputes are handled.

The shift is about creating a family justice system built around children’s needs rather than parental dispute. As discussed in the clip, the previous system was often adversarial, with parents arguing and presenting competing allegations. Now the focus is firmly on the child, their experiences and what they need.

The court begins child arrangement cases with a Child Impact Report, where Cafcass speaks to each parent and, when appropriate, the child to identify issues and risks early. The court reviews this report on paper and may make a final order immediately or direct further hearings or safeguarding checks. It doesn’t replace a Section 7 report, but it gives the court early, meaningful insight.

We’re pleased to welcome Iola to the Kidwells team.

Based in our Bristol office, Iola joined us in 2026 as part of the Client Relationship Team, supporting clients throughout their experience with the firm. She holds a BA in History from Durham University and an MA Law (Conversion), and is currently working towards the SQE.

Before joining Kidwells, she gained legal experience through the Family Advice Clinic Bristol and work experience, developing a strong interest in client-focused legal services.
