We are delighted to announce that Michelle Bettell has joined us a Consultant at MR|S.

Michelle is a Chartered Legal Executive specialising in Family Law and Family Mediation. Michelle has practised as a family lawyer for over 20 years and can advise on all types of family matters, from cohabitation agreements, pre- and post-nuptial, and all matters relating to separating, including divorce, dissolution of civil partnerships, injunction proceedings, cohabitation, financial settlements, and children disputes.

Michelle is an accredited family mediator dealing with all family disputes for married and unmarried couples. Michelle also offers ‘child in mediation’ in respect of which she is particularly passionate, ensuring that, in the right circumstances, the young people of the family can be given the opportunity to have a voice. We are excited to bring this to our existing range of services.

Michelle joins Consultants Emilie Holland and Aaron Bailey. We are immensely proud of our team and look forward to continuing to work with our clients, new and old to help navigate and advise them in challenging times.

We have been quiet here at MR|S due to assisting and helping so many clients! We are, however, thrilled to announce that we are putting the MR in MR|S, as our former colleague and friend, Aaron Bailey, has joined us as a Consultant Solicitor.

Aaron has recently been appointed as a Deputy District Judge on the Western Circuit, and he has a particular interest in matrimonial finances, although very much has expertise across all areas of family law.

Aaron joins our existing Consultant Solicitor, Emilie Holland, and both are great assets to our hard-working and dedicated family team.

'Divorce and the exceptionally complex steps and processes associated with it are not something that most of us hope to find ourselves in the middle of but when I unfortunately did I was extremely lucky to be put in touch with Nicola. She was knowledgeable and clear, right from the early stages, about each step of the process needed along the way as well as incredibly caring and compassionate, especially at the times when I needed it most.

We have just issued our first Divorce Application under the new ‘no-fault’ process which became possible today 6th April 2022 after many, many years of speculation.

This marks a significant and exciting time in family law. Until now, we have had to advise our clients that unless they have been separated for two years or more, they would have to apportion blame to end their marriage by citing either adultery or unreasonable behaviour.

This change will simplify the process and remove potential hostility.

We are very much looking forward to assisting clients on this new journey.
