Your bedroom could be costing you a buyer… 👀

When you’re selling your home, your bedroom needs to feel like a place a buyer can instantly imagine themselves relaxing in — not a storage room for your life.

Before you put your property on the market, take a proper look at your bedroom with fresh eyes.

✨ Declutter bedside tables
✨ Remove excess furniture
✨ Clear wardrobes and don’t overfill them
✨ Keep surfaces calm and simple
✨ Make the bed beautifully
✨ Use soft, inviting textures
✨ Let in as much natural light as possible
✨ Remove anything that makes the room feel too personal

And here’s the important bit…

Staging isn’t about making your home look empty or soulless. It’s about showing the buyer the potential of the space.

A beautifully presented bedroom can help a buyer picture themselves living there — and that emotional connection can make a real difference.

Remember: you’re no longer styling your home for you. You’re styling it for your buyer.

🎥 In this reel, I’m showing you exactly what I would look at when preparing a bedroom for sale.

If you’re thinking of selling, don’t wait until the photographer arrives to start preparing. The work you do before the listing can make all the difference.

What does your buyer see in the first 10 seconds?

This beautiful dining room is a perfect example of why first impressions matter so much when selling your home.

It’s not about having the biggest house, the most expensive furniture or creating something that doesn’t feel like you.

It’s about helping a buyer see the space, potential and lifestyle your home could offer them.

Sometimes, a room is simply too full, too lived-in or not showing off what’s actually there.

A few thoughtful changes can completely change how a buyer experiences the space.

✨ Before: a lovely room, but the features were getting lost.

✨ After: the room feels spacious, inviting and ready for its next owner.

And remember — your buyer doesn’t know how wonderful the room could be.

They only see what’s in front of them.

I’ve just written a new blog on this very subject:

“Why the First 10 Seconds Matter So Much When You’re Selling Your House”

If you’re thinking about selling this autumn, it’s worth having a read before you put your home on the market.

Look at your home through a buyer’s eyes… not your own.

When you’ve lived somewhere for years, you stop really seeing it.

You see the memories, the familiar furniture and the things you’ve simply got used to.

But buyers see it differently.

So before you put your property on the market, try this:

👉 Stop being the owner.
👉 Walk through your home as if you’re seeing it for the first time.
👉 What would make you stop and think, “Wow, I could live here”?

Fresh eyes can make a HUGE difference when you’re preparing your home for sale.

🎥 Watch my quick video for the simple way I recommend doing this.

Thinking like a buyer is the first step to making your home more sellable.

Sometimes we forget to stop and smell the coffee… ☕️

Yesterday I went to see my accountant, Angela at AB Accountancy Ltd, to drop off some paperwork. While I was there, I took the opportunity to have a little walk around Workington and actually stop and look at the architecture.

It’s amazing what you notice when you’re not rushing from A to B. There are some lovely old buildings and beautiful details that we can so easily walk past without really seeing them.

We’re all so busy these days, but sometimes it’s good to slow down, look up and appreciate what’s right in front of us. ❤️

And of course, a lovely lunch with Angela was the perfect finishing touch!

Thank you, Angela, for a lovely afternoon. ☕️🥰

You really do only have about 10 seconds to make a great first impression when selling your home.

It might sound a bit dramatic, but those first few moments can genuinely shape how a potential buyer feels about a property.

Before they’ve even noticed the size of the rooms, admired the kitchen or looked out at the garden, they’ve already started forming an opinion.

So what are they seeing when they walk through the door?

✨ Is the entrance warm and welcoming?
✨ Does the home feel light, bright and airy?
✨ Is everything clean, tidy and clutter-free?
✨ Can they already imagine themselves living there?

These small details really do make a big difference — and they’re exactly why preparing your home properly before it goes on the market is so important.

I’ve just written a new blog all about why those first 10 seconds matter so much when selling your house, and the simple things you can do to make them count.

👉 Take a read and start seeing your home through a buyer’s eyes.👇

Tip 5 | Preparing Your Home for Market 🏡✨

Let there be light! 💡

When you’re preparing your home for sale, one of the simplest things you can do is make sure you let as much light in as possible.

Open your curtains and blinds, clean your windows and make the most of that lovely natural light. And don’t forget those darker corners — add a lamp to make the whole room feel warm and inviting.

✨ Lamps switched on
🔆Add lamps if no plugs about
🕯️ Candles for atmosphere
🌿 Fresh, welcoming room scents
🪟 Curtains and blinds open
🧹 Everything clean, tidy and clutter-free

Right now, in the middle of summer, we’re lucky enough to have plenty of daylight. But autumn will be here before we know it, and those darker evenings make lighting even more important.

And don’t forget your entrance hall. It’s the first impression buyers get when they walk through your door, so make sure it’s bright, clean, tidy and welcoming.

TIP 4 🏡 | DE-PERSONALISE YOUR HOME

This one can be a little difficult… but it really can make a difference when you’re preparing your home for sale.

Start taking down those very personal photographs and family pictures. ❤️

Of course, you love them — they’re part of your memories and your home. But when your house goes on the market, it needs to become a property for sale, rather than feeling like someone else’s very personal home.

You want potential buyers to walk through the door and imagine their family, their photographs and their life there.

Think of it as the beginning of your next chapter.

Pack away some of those personal items, create a calm and neutral space, and let buyers imagine themselves living there.
