βοΈ SUMMER HOLIDAYS & CHILD ARRANGEMENTS β HAVE YOU MADE A PLAN? βοΈ
The summer holidays can be an exciting time for children β but for separated parents, arranging where the children will spend their time can sometimes become stressful, particularly when things aren't so amicable...
If you share care of your children, it can help to agree arrangements well in advance, particularly where your work, holidays, or trips away are involved
π‘ Things to consider include:
ποΈ How will the school summer holidays be divided?
βοΈ Are either of you planning to take the children away on holiday? If so, have you agreed the dates and destination?
π
Will the usual weekend or midweek arrangements continue during the holidays?
π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ How will special occasions, family events and birthdays be dealt with?
π± How will the children keep in touch with the other parent while they are away?
π Who will be responsible for travel arrangements, passports, medication and other essentials?
Most importantly, try to keep the focus on what works best for your children, rather than on disagreements between the adults.
If you are struggling to agree arrangements, you do not necessarily need to go straight to court. Mediation or legal advice can sometimes help parents reach an agreement that works for everyone.
