A lovely bit of local news for Wick! 😊

It’s great to see plans for the former church to be given a new lease of life, creating a space that can be enjoyed by local people for years to come.

The former St Fergus Church is to be turned into a community facility after being acquired by Wick Development Trust.
Most of the £80,000 purchase price was met from SSEN Transmission’s Shetland HVDC Link Local Fund, with the remainder coming from Wick River Campsite profits. The historic building will now be known as St Fergus Community Centre.

People sometimes ask us why a law firm in Wick sends someone to Copenhagen for a week.

It's a fair question.

A good deal of our work is referred to us by law firms in London and around the world whose clients need a Scottish lawyer. That work supports specialists, and jobs, that a firm in the Far North would not otherwise have.

It helps our local clients too. When a problem crosses a border, we can usually find the right lawyer at the other end. A holiday home in Spain. A relative's estate in Canada. A customer in Norway who won't pay.

The International Bar Association's annual conference is where several thousand lawyers from around the world meet each year. Eric is there from 5 to 9 October.

Everyone else is at their desks as usual.😀

Wick-based BBM Solicitors has again been recognised and commended by the international law firm directory Legal 500.
Eric Baijal, who is the only Law Society of Scotland accredited specialist in insolvency law based in the Highlands and Islands, was named a “leading partner” in the national review of the profession.
