The UK Government have just released its Policy Paper on this topic stating that individuals who register companies or file with the Registrar will have to prove they are who they say they are by verifying their identity.

This will make it much harder to register fictitious directors or beneficial owners, stopping the vast majority of fraudulent appointments from reaching the Companies House register.

For an individual to verify themselves, they will have two options, going through Companies House directly or alternatively going through an "Authorised Corporate Service Provider", such as a law firm.

This means that law firms need a way to genuinely verify clients.
