Not every property issue can be solved with routine maintenance.
This week our team attended a site to carry out hopper clearing, but what we found highlighted a much bigger issue.
Rather than simply completing the scheduled task and leaving, we spent time speaking with residents to understand the problems they have been experiencing. Water leaks, damp and mould were recurring concerns across multiple apartments, so we carried out a wider inspection of the building's rainwater system.
Our findings showed that whilst the hoppers themselves were relatively clear, the downpipes appeared to be heavily restricted, preventing rainwater from draining efficiently. This is exactly why looking beyond the original work instruction is so important.
Many newer developments can experience ongoing issues with damp, mould and water ingress. Whilst these symptoms often appear inside the property, the root cause can sometimes lie outside in the building's drainage systems, rainwater goods or maintenance strategy.
