This was a complex asylum matter involving complex protection and vulnerability issues. Following our preparation of a detailed skeleton argument, comprehensive legal submissions and thorough supporting evidence, the Home Office reconsidered the case and withdrew its refusal decision under Rule 17, with a view to granting our client refugee status.

✅ Application Granted Outside the Immigration Rules – We successfully secured leave for a child under 18, relying on paragraph CHI 4.3(b) following compelling evidence of domestic violence and exceptional circumstances.
✅ Additional Spouse Visa Granted – We are also pleased to have secured another successful spouse visa outcome this week, reflecting the consistent dedication and care we provide across all family immigration matters.

COURT OF APPEAL SUCCESS | Ward v Donnellan [2026] EWCA Civ 729

We are proud to share that Awan Legal acted for the successful Appellants in the Court of Appeal case of Ward v Donnellan, a significant decision that provides important guidance on how courts should approach costs in multi-claim litigation.

The Court of Appeal overturned a costs order arising from lengthy and complex proceedings involving:
✔️ An unsuccessful partnership claim
✔️ A successful Part 20 beneficial ownership claim concerning leasehold interests
✔️ An associated possession claim
The judgment provides valuable clarification on the approach to costs where parties have achieved mixed outcomes across different aspects of a case.
