As temperatures rise, employers often ask: is there a maximum workplace temperature?

There is no specific legal maximum workplace temperature in England and Wales, but employers still have a duty to provide a safe and reasonable working environment. Simple measures such as access to drinking water, improved ventilation, relaxed dress codes, additional breaks and adjusted working patterns can make a real difference.
This is particularly important for employees working outdoors, carrying out physical work, wearing PPE or working in poorly ventilated spaces.
