A huge congratuations to Megan Wright who has passed the Magistrates Court Qualification, to become our newest Duty Solicitor.

The portfolio and exam are not for the faint hearted and we are glad that those long days to get it completed are now over for you. We are all very proud to see you continue your professional growth in the Magistrates Court.

A huge warm welcome to the newest members of our team.

Over the last month, three colleagues have joined us.

Katie Lawton has joined the criminal department as a Paralegal and Police Station Representative. Katie has 6 years experience running her own crown court caseload, and has already hit the ground running.

Megan Wright, criminal solicitor, has joined the criminal department and will continue to develop her magistrates court practice. Last week Megan celebrated 1 year as a qualified solicitor. 🥳 Megan is already getting stuck in representing clients at court and preparing for upcoming trials and we look forward to watching her continue to grow as an advocate.

Dawn Woolley has joined our wonderful reception team at the Mansfield office. Dawn has settled in brilliantly alongside Shirley and Judy over the last few weeks.

A very successful week in the Magistrates Court;

Deborah Bell successfully opposed the Crowns application to adjourn in a two-handed ABH trial, where she represented both defendants, resulting in the crown offering no evidence and one defendant being released from custody.

Paige Tugby represented a client charged with criminal damage who was found not guilty. The following day, she sucessfully opposed the Crowns application to adjourn a trial after the key witness failed to turn up for trial, resulting in no evidence being offered in an high value alleged jewellery theft. The case involved defence expert evidence involving facial recognition.

This month saw Jo Lee-Varley and Mark Marriott celebrate 30 years at the Firm!

Jo Lee-Varley is our longest serving employee, joining Phillips alongside Danny Phillips at the Firms Inception. Jo beats Mark by a couple of weeks. Both have worked across all departments over the years, but for the past several years Mark has worked in the Family department and Jo in Conveyancing!

A huge milestone! Thank you Jo & Mark for your dedication and loyalty to Phillips since those early days! 👏🎉
