We are pleased to announce that Taylor Emmet has joined Law Beats Cancer, a pioneering initiative that brings together the legal profession and Cancer Research UK (CRUK) to help accelerate life-saving cancer research.
Cancer affects almost every family in some way, with nearly one in two people in the UK expected to receive a diagnosis during their lifetime. While survival rates have doubled in recent decades thanks to significant advances in research, Cancer Research UK is still unable to fund many world-class research projects each year due to limited resources.
Law Beats Cancer has been established to help close that gap by uniting solicitors, barristers and in-house legal teams around a shared cause. Rather than operating as a traditional fundraising campaign, it aims to create a movement across the legal sector, bringing people together through thought leadership, networking opportunities, fundraising events, challenges and other initiatives that foster a strong sense of community and purpose.
By joining Law Beats Cancer, we have an opportunity to come together as a firm, alongside colleagues from across the profession to contribute to research that has the potential to save and improve lives.
The initiative already has strong backing from across the legal sector, but it is designed to be much more than a one-off campaign. Law Beats Cancer belongs to the entire profession, offering us all the opportunity to be part of something meaningful and to use our collective influence as a force for good.
Our involvement also aligns closely with the forthcoming launch of TE Charity Assist, a new service through which we will provide a range of legal support to charities and third-sector organisations. Further details on this initiative will be shared shortly, but it reflects our wider commitment to supporting causes that have a positive impact on our communities.
