Good Character Requirement for Naturalisation -In simple terms:
Good Character Requirement for Naturalisation
When you apply for British citizenship, the Home Office looks at your whole history, not just one offence.
They will consider:
How many offences or negative incidents there were.
How serious they were.
When they happened and how long ago.
Your age when they happened.
Whether your behaviour improved afterwards.
Your contribution to society and positive conduct.
Any exceptional or mitigating circumstances.
Most importantly, each application is considered individually. There is no automatic rule that every person with a criminal record will fail.
The decision is based on the balance of probabilities and all the available information about your character.
