LANDLORDS: THE NEW RENTAL PROPERTY REGISTER IS COMING.

From 15 December 2026, landlords across England will begin registering their rental properties under the new Register Your Rental Property service.

📅 WHEN DO YOU NEED TO REGISTER?

Registration is being introduced region by region, with landlords given 3 months to register once their region opens.

⏰ REMEMBER

You have 3 months to register once registration opens in your region.

All properties must be registered by
14 NOVEMBER 2027.

All actively let properties must be registered by 14 November 2027.

💷 WHAT WILL IT COST?

£65 per property, per year.

The registration fee will need to be renewed annually.

🏠 WHO NEEDS TO REGISTER?

The requirement applies to private-sector landlords in England with assured or regulated tenancies.

Landlords will need to provide information about themselves and their properties, including relevant property, tenancy and safety information.

📍 HAVE PROPERTIES IN MORE THAN ONE REGION?

You can choose to register all your properties from 15 December 2026, rather than waiting for each region's rollout date.

Your agent can help provide certain information on your behalf, but the landlord remains responsible for completing the registration.

🏡 NEW SCHEME COULD HELP FIRST-TIME BUYERS GET ON THE HOUSING LADDER

A new government scheme called “Your First Home” has been announced, aimed at helping more first-time buyers in England purchase a new-build property.

So, what do we know so far? 👇

💷 Just a 2.5% deposit
Eligible first-time buyers could potentially purchase with a deposit of just 2.5%.

🏠 20% government-backed equity loan
The scheme is expected to provide an equity loan worth up to 20% of the property’s value.

✨ Initially interest-free
The equity loan is expected to have an initial interest-free period, although the exact terms are still to be confirmed.
