Is there ever a good or bad time to buy property? I woke up this morning fearing the worst after Trumps apocalyptic deadline threat against Iran. But instead a ceasefire has been brokered, the World breathed a sigh of relief,……and I took Fidget for an early walk.
Life goes on, as we lurch from crisis to crisis, be it domestic or global, but with careful searching, good professional advice, strong negotiating skills and diligent attention to detail it is always possible to find and buy the property you want. There are some amazing properties available to buy off-market (as well as some being openly marketed) but it’s essential to make sure you negotiate the right price in this volatile market or you could end up spending much more than you need to.

Is there ever a good or bad time to buy property? I woke up this morning fearing the worst after Trumps apocalyptic deadline threat against Iran. But instead a ceasefire has been brokered, the World breathed a sigh of relief,……and I took Fidget for an early walk.
Life goes on, as we lurch from crisis to crisis, be it domestic or global, but with careful searching, good professional advice, strong negotiating skills and diligent attention to detail it is always possible to find and buy the property you want. A great 5 star Google review from a vendor whose house we bought completely off market on behalf of a retained client. We complete next week but it’s so nice to know that, although we act solely for the buyer, our service is appreciated by both sides:

“We approached Rupert after having our home valued, with the intention of pursuing a discreet sale. We were keen to avoid photography, public advertising, and a stream of viewings. Rupert was, as ever, courteous and measured; he visited to see the property and understood immediately what we were hoping to achieve.

A few weeks later, he contacted us to say he had clients in mind who were searching for a property of this kind. They viewed twice, made a fair offer close to the asking price, and we were able to agree terms swiftly and amicably.

With the dawn of Trump 2.0 in January there may be some US citizens who feel a move abroad might be a more attractive proposition.
In the recent budget, the Chancellor set out changes to taxation for non-UK domiciled individuals which could potentially be very attractive for some. There is now provision for 100% tax relief on FIG (Foreign Income & Gains) for new arrivals in the UK in their first 4 years of tax residence, provided they have not been a UK tax resident in any of the 10 consecutive years prior to their arrival.
