Venters Solicitors have secured a significant High Court success in an international child abduction case, highlighting the firm’s strategic approach to complex cross border disputes.

In the case of Re (A Child: Return Order to Lithuania) [2026] EWHC 1050 (Fam) (01 May 2026), where we acted for the father, the team achieved an order for the return of a six‑year‑old child to Lithuania under the 1980 Hague Convention, overcoming multiple legal and factual challenges raised by the mother, as the case was fiercely contested.

Big changes could be on the horizon for unmarried couples in the UK.

The Government has launched a consultation looking at how to better protect people who live together but aren’t married or in a civil partnership.

Proposals include:

-Financial support when relationships end
-Inheritance rights if a partner dies without a will
-Stronger protection for those affected by domestic abuse

Right now, many cohabiting couples don’t have the same legal rights as married couples, which can lead to real difficulties during separation. These proposed changes aim to create a fairer system that reflects modern relationships.

1st-7th June is child safety week. If you ever feel that you and your child are unsafe in your home, our team can help you to apply for an injunction, otherwise known as a Non-Molestation Order.

You will need to provide evidence to enable the family Court to grant the order and our team are here to guide you through the process. Evidence may include details of the times when you have been physically or emotionally harmed, the effects that it’s had on you and your children, and even police or medical records if you have them. The more evidence you have, the quicker it will be for the order to be placed.
