Kiranpreet is a Senior Compliance Associate at Woodstock Legal Services, helping to keep processes practical, compliant, and running smoothly behind the scenes.
๐ผ What does your role at Woodstock involve?
I work as a Senior Compliance Associate at Woodstock Legal Services. My role involves supporting the business with compliance matters and helping to make sure our processes are clear, practical and aligned with our regulatory obligations.
Day to day, that can involve looking at policies and procedures, supporting with compliance queries, reviewing processes, and helping to make sure we are protecting both the firm and our clients. In short, I help keep things compliant and on track - hopefully without making compliance feel like the fun police have arrived!
๐ What led you to a career in compliance?
In recent years, Iโve worked within in-house compliance, and Iโve really enjoyed being in a role that sits close to how a business operates in practice.
What drew me to compliance is that it is not just about rules or saying โnoโ. A good compliance role is about asking the right questions, understanding the wider picture, spotting risks early and helping people reach a safe, fair and practical outcome.
I enjoy the mix of problem-solving, detail and communication. You get to work with different teams, understand different parts of the business, and help make sure things are done properly but in a way that still feels proportionate and workable. No two days are exactly the same, which definitely keeps it interesting.
๐ ๏ธ If you werenโt working in compliance, what do you think youโd be doing?
If I wasnโt working in compliance, Iโd probably have my own small restaurant or cosy little eatery serving Indo-fusion dishes - dog friendly, of course.
I love the idea of bringing together authentic flavours from different countries and cultures, especially places people may not know much about, and creating food that feels comforting, exciting and full of flavour. The alternative dream would be somewhere warm and relaxed, with good food, good music, and dogs treated like VIP guests.
๐ฅค Go-to coffee order?
It depends on the day, but usually something warm, comforting and strong enough to help me power through the inbox. If thereโs a pastry involved, even better.
๐ Fun Fact?
As a child, I learned Indian classical music and was trained in it for a while. At one point, I genuinely thought I might showcase this hidden talent on Britainโs Got Talent - until I realised there was an actual process to get there, and it wasnโt just a dramatic walk-on moment with applause, emotional background music and Simon Cowell looking impressed.
So for now, the talent remains mostly hidden - probably for the best!
