👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 A major boost to family mediation🌟

During the Summer, the Family Procedure Rule Committee published a consultation to examine how MIAMs (Mediation Information and Assessment Meetings - a meeting with a specially qualified family mediator to consider whether your issues can be resolved without going to court) are managed within the court process.

🏛️ The government has taken action in response to the consultation and is tightening up the requirement for couples to attend a MIAM before issuing court proceedings.

This response strongly reiterates the government's belief that cases that do not require court intervention should be managed through mediation and other non-court solutions.

🗓️ These changes will be formally implemented in April 2024.
