To mark Carers Week, we took 8 carers to Signature Strawberries for brunch and coffee as a small thank you for everything they do each day☕🍓

A big thank you to the team at Signature Strawberries for looking after us so well and for the delicious chocolate-covered strawberries!

It was a great chance to sit down, listen to their experiences, and better understand the challenges they face.

One of the highlights was seeing new connections being made - three of the carers exchanged numbers and are already planning to meet up again.

Moments like this remind us how important it is to create space not just for recognition, but for connection and friendship with those who truly understand one another’s journeys.

Thank you to all carers for the incredible work you do every day.

💬 Constant client interaction

It’s challenging, but also incredibly rewarding - especially when you’re supporting clients through major life moments.

On Friday our Sports & Social team brought the firm together for a lively game of rounders - and it definitely brought out everyone’s competitive side!

Team B raced into an early lead, but some shaky fielding kept things interesting as Team A fought back. It all came down to the final batter, who smashed an absolute belter to clinch the win for Team B by just one point!🏆

We wrapped things up with a medal ceremony (for both the fortunate and… less fortunate winners!) and plenty of laughs all round.

Overall, it was a brilliant evening and a great opportunity to connect with colleagues outside of the day-to-day, even if Team A needed to drown their sorrows at the bar afterwards!🍻
Thank you to everyone who organised and took part!

Probate disputes are becoming more common and there’s often more at stake than people expect.

Things like rising house prices, family expectations, and even DIY wills are leading to more people questioning whether a will is fair or valid.

One tool people use is called a “caveat” - it can put things on hold while concerns are looked into. But it’s important to get it right, as it can also cause delays and extra costs if used incorrectly.

In this post, we break it all down in a simple way so you can understand:

• What a caveat is
• When it might be used
• Why more wills are being challenged

At first glance, making a DIY will or using an online service might seem like a cheap option - but in reality, they often cause costly complications and a legal nightmare for your loved ones.

Here’s why they can go wrong:

•Even small errors in wording, signing, or witnessing can make a DIY will or a will created online legally unenforceable.
•Templates often use overly simplistic or unclear terms that create confusion or disputes later.
Online forms cannot reflect your unique circumstances, wishes, or potential risks.
•Blended families, stepchildren, previous relationships, and shared assets require careful drafting that generic templates simply don’t cover.

Speaking with an Accredited Lifetime Lawyer ensures your will is tailored to your life, legally sound, and structured to protect your loved ones from conflict, uncertainty, and unnecessary costs in the future.

We were delighted to partner with Promoting Children in Plymouth (PCiP) to support Kier’s Moving through May initiative through the delivery of a community wellbeing event in Keyham,
Held at North Down Playing Fields, the “Healthy Body, Healthy Minds” event brought together 470 pupils from five local schools for a day focused on fitness, confidence and literacy.

Alongside a programme of high-energy activities led by a qualified trainer, we were proud to contribute a record-breaking donation of 500+ preloved books for PCiP, helping improve access to reading for local children and supporting their long-term development.

Wolfie also joined in on the day 🐺- getting stuck into the activities, showing the children the exercise moves and even managing a few press-ups along the way, bringing plenty of energy and enthusiasm throughout.

A big thank you to PCiP for bringing partners together to deliver such an impactful event, to Kier for leading Moving Through May, and to everyone who volunteered or donated to make the day possible!
