Our annual Conference took place on Thursday and what an inspiring and uplifting day it was. It was wonderful to come together and celebrate so many great things that have happened over the last year. Our Tier 1 Legal 500-recognised Contentious Probate team has secured a significant High Court success in a dispute concerning the ownership of company shares.

The judgment in Martin v Wilkinson [2025] EWHC 3575 (Ch) considered whether shares in a long-established property investment company formed part of a deceased’s estate or were held on trust for family members.

The Court found that a valid trust had been created through the deceased’s words and conduct, despite there being no formal trust deed.

Our Partner Johnny Coulthard led the matter to trial, achieving a successful outcome for our clients following a complex, long-running dispute.
