Did you catch last night's Panorama episode, "Should We Still Be Working from Home?"

As many of you know we work closely with the CIPD who assisted the producers of the programme and provided detailed research.

The Government has today confirmed that they will bring the Neonatal Care (Leave and Pay) Act 2023 into effect from 6 April 2025. This will be a right from the first day of employment for parents of babies under 28 days old who are admitted to hospital for 7 days or more. Stay tuned for further details.... this will be just one of the topics in our employment law update workshops this season.

Many of you who've attended our Employment Law update sessions this season will have heard us talk about "fire and re-hire" and the Code of Practice that was introduced a few months ago. The Government have now added that failure to inform and consult for redundancy collective consultation purposes is included in the 25% uplift for failing to follow the Code.

This will apply from 20 January 2025 - which means that employers considering the financial risks for failing to comply with their collective consultation obligations in a redundancy situation will now not only have to factor in a protective award of up to 90 days pay, but also a 25% uplift on the protective award.

Looking forward to a really busy week.... We're on the road delivering workshops in London and Milton Keynes and the rest of the KSA team are delivering training sessions on HR Audits, Data Protection, Avoiding Sexual Harassment, Settlement Agreements and TUPE. One of our associates is also running at full speed carrying out a high level investigation for a client, while another is designing an eLearning programme. Thrilled to have such exciting projects to deliver, and looking forward to rest over the Christmas period. Think we all need to rest and recharge for an equally busy January!

Many of you who've attended recent employment law updates we've delivered have heard us talk about the Employment Rights Bill. Just to keep you all up to date... The Government have just announced they will be including in the Bill an increase to the time limits from 3 to 6 months for employees to bring any claims to an employment tribunal . This is massive, as it wasn't included in the original version of the Bill.
